Maite Rodríguez
(Montevideo, Uruguay, 1988)
Maite is an artist whose interests focus on composition and musical interpretation in co-working on different artistic disciplines.
In 2013 she obtained a degree in Music specializing in Choral Conducting at Escuela Universitaria de Música (Universitary School of Music) in Uruguay, where she also studied Music Composition, Singing and Visual Arts.
In 2018 she obtained a Master degree in Sound Art at Barcelona University, focusing her final work on Voice. Her final work was titled: The voice as creative matter. A study of the corporal, affective and perceptive processes in the voice.
Maite es una artista multidisciplinaria cuyo interés se centra en la composición y en la interpretación musical así como en los cruces entre diferentes disciplinas.
En 2013 obtiene el título de Licenciada en música con especialización en Dirección de Coro de la Escuela Universitaria de Música (EUM) de la Universidad de la República del Uruguay, donde también cursó estudios en las carreras de Composición, Canto y Artes Visuales.
En 2018 obtiene el título de Máster en Arte Sonoro en la Universidad de Barcelona Su trabajo final estuvo centrado en la voz y se tituló: La voz como materia creativa, Un estudio de los procesos corporales, afectivos y perceptivos en la voz.
Actualmente dirige el Ensamble Oikos, el Grupo vocal Vidamí, y el Coro y el taller del Colegio Seminario. También se desempeña como tallerista de canto en el TUMP (Taller Uruguayo de Música Popular).
Maite conducts the Oikos Ensemble, the Vidamí vocal group and the Choir of the Colegio Seminario. She also leads singing workshops at TUMP, Taller Uruguayo de Música Popular (Uruguayan Popular Music Workshop). As a singer, she has joined international choirs, such as World Youth Choir, JSB Ensemble and Time Ensemble. She also joined Orfeó Catalá, the choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana, Barcelona and the De Profundis Baroque Ensemble, Uruguay.
As a composer, she explores both popular and academic languages. Her works include songs, choir pieces, music for dance, sound poetry and pieces for radio.
In 2015 she edited her first record of her own songs: En el movimiento (In the movement). She published her second album entitled Mar in 2019.
In 2009, she won the first prize in the choir composition contest organized by Escuela Universitaria de Música, with her piece for mixed choir El silencio (The silence).
